Fabric Bookmark

OK so I've been using a grocery receipt lately as my bookmark. It's getting pretty wrinkly and not very effective.  I've been seeing all kinds of tutorials on Pinterest about making them so I thought I'd give it a shot.  Here is a link to a blog that gave me some inspiration, See Katie Sew.
I made a few exceptions and made it my own though... I used felt and a strip of cardboard from a wrapping paper roll to sturdy up the bookmark plus I added a fabric flower.  I'm kind of addicted to the fabric flowers at the moment :)

This one was just practice for me of course, the next few I make will be for my daughters teachers at school. I know they have tons of books and need something cool to bookmark them.

Book Pages Project

So I've noticed my daughter has entirely too many books and in fact some of them are falling apart.  Either the binding is coming apart, there's no cover, or pages are just ripped or coming out.

I guess you could call me a wanna-be crafter or a hoarder or a mix of both but I just can't bring myself to throwing them away.  So I've been looking for different ideas on what to do with the pages.  I love Pinterest and it's amazing what you can find, especially if you know what you want.  Here's what I found:

Christmas Ornament
Christmas Ornament 2
Gift Wrap Bow
Necklace
Placemats
Photography Background
Coasters

And of course here is an article about 20 ways to decorate w/ book pages.. HERE

As soon as I get or make some Mod Podge I will post what I finally decided to do with the pages.  Here is the recipe I found for Homemade Mod Podge if anyone is interested.

Little Dresses for Africa

I am in a moms group on facebook and they are determined to make 100 pillowcase dresses over the next few weeks for Little Dresses For Africa. If you would like more information on how to help the cause visit www.nacysnotions.com or click here for the direct link.  You can also make little britches for boys too. She has the pattern downloads there for free.

This is my first attempt at making one and I think it turned out cute.  I'm still debating on whether or not to attach a Levi's denim pocket to the front. My husband had an old holey pair that he won't wear anymore and the pocket is still perfect.  I may keep it for a future project. Me and my sewing machine are finally getting to know one another and are developing creative relationship.
